The Second Life Mobile Phone Concept works on the premise that we often forget about the battery life of our mobile phones, hence run out of juice, just at the wrong time. As a remedy (rather power-saver-option) the phone incorporates a double display. When in active use the AMOLED screen powers up in all glory and in standby mode the E-ink display gets active. This essentially means that the E-ink uses very little energy and the degree of transparency of the display shows how much battery is remaining. The more transparent the display, the less battery remaining.

iFlash Dongle For The Poor Man’s iPhone
The iPhone 4 includes a flash, but what about the rest of us slobs who still use the now antiquated 3Gs and 3g or even Edge iPhones? This dongle plugs into the 30-pin connector on the bottom of the handset and provides an LED flash light for those night time shots. There is an on/off switch and it boasts a 10cd to 13cd brightness (we’ve got no clue what this means in the real world). For those of you with an iPhone 4 this could add some extra punch to your night time shots, though we’d never carry around another device if we didn’t have to. It also doubles as a flash light.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 gets Android 2.1
Sony Ericsson has started the first wave of Android 2.1 upgrades for the Xperia X8. Some of the mid-range smartphones will get the upgrades today and this should be followed by a “gradual” rollout to every carrier and country that supports the X8. We don’t have a solid timeframe since it depends on approvals from each carrier.
